Swarm Removal
We remove honey bees swarms in Champaign, Urbana and surrounding communities. The bees will be collected alive and relocated by a competent beekeeper in a safe and humane manner to one of our treatment-free hives.
Have you spotted a swarm? Contact us if:
- The swarm is in the Champaign-Urbana vicinity.
- The insects are actually honey bees and not yellow jackets. (See characteristics.)
- They are on an exterior surface within reach or accessible by a ladder.
If you’re unsure, call us at (217) 600-BEES.
Facts About Swarms
- A swarm is a cluster of thousands of bees with one or more queen.
- Swarm is generally quite docile. Their stomachs are full of honey and they have nothing to defend.
- Swarms are cast by healthy colonies and are the natural means of reproduction.
- Swarms are homeless and are awaiting the discovery of their new home by scout bees.
- The process of finding a home and moving in can vary from minutes to several days.
A cavity in your house may be the swarm’s future home site. Call us before they move in!
